AWS Route 53
Introduction
Route 53 is an advanced domain management tool. Unlike most domain software, it lets you point a domain entry to an AWS application instead of an IP.
Usage
- We have 2 hosted zones set up
- resn.org.au
- Obviously our primary hosted zone
- Records point to web apps, mail servers, DKIM, DMARC, validation
- resntutoring.com.au
- This is only for legacy usage
- Redirects any mail to the equivalent resn.org.au address
Advantages
- Works incredibly well with AWS services
Disadvantages
- Way clunkier interface than alternative products
- Can’t register AU domains within Route 53
- Doesn’t work well with long strings (e.g. verification strings)
